Drinking Green Smoothies

Hi, I’m Audrey and this is my very first post! I’m excited to start my blog today. I’ll start off with 3 random facts about me and 3 things you will find on this blog, but first click my name mentioned up above.

1) I recently cut 8 inches off of my hair and am sporting the short cut 

2) Bananas are my favorite fruit and eat at least one everyday

Breakfast

Let’s talk about smoothies. I love protein smoothies, fruit smoothies, and vegetables smoothies. But I’m a super fan of the green smoothies. Why? Because of all the benefits you can get in one serving! It makes a difference to my performance through the day, my skin and hair, and my overall health. The mixture of vegetables and fruit and protein all in one is pretty awesome for those who have a hard time eating those types of food in one sitting. The smoothie recipe that I try to follow by and drink 2-5 times a week is here. Now sometimes for me, the ingredients change up some according to what is in my fridge!DSC09762

This is my smoothie this morning:

Green Smoothie Ingredients

-2 huge handfuls of spinach
-1 stalk of washed kale
-1 gala apple
-1 banana
-5 small frozen strawberries
-2 stalks of chopped celery
-half a lemon squeezed
-2 cups of water

I split this into 2 drinks and have 1/2 of it one morning and the other 1/2 the next morning so it saves me time which is a plus! And I also had a boiled egg to go along with this for some additional protein. 

Lunch

This is my packed and ready lunch today.

In the mix is a couple of scoops of red rice and quinoa mixture I picked up at Costco. It’s very tasty and if you ever see this, you might want to pick it up (hint, hint).

I also have some leftover sautéed chicken and half of a sweet potato. Then I topped it with salsa. Yes, I put salsa on my sweet potato. Its actually very tasty and suggest you try it out if you’re eating a sweet potato any time soon. I got this delicious idea from Courtney from Sweet Tooth Sweet Life. So if you end up adoring the tastiness, thank her!

Well, I’m off to school early for a panoramic picture of the senior class! Fun stuff
