Let It Snow

So it actually snowed…in Alabama, this is a rather a big accomplishment down here. Not sure how many inches, maybe 1-2 inches. But it was beautiful. It snowed from 10 A.M. to around 3 P.M. It didn’t stick till about 2 o’clock. It had rained some already and not cold enough. So it took a while. But the snow flakes were pretty big. Smile

This is my back porch. I love it when the snow sticks on it. I find it so beautiful!

This is my front yard…gorgeous on the green bushes! Do you like snow?

Yep, drank a green smoothie in the dark this morning. Completely normal Thumbs up

Quickly packed some chopped vegetables and baby spinach together this morning with some dressing. And I ate some sweet potato fries along with it. These things are so, so good!

And then I came home and had to drive in the snow; very abnormal.

I arrived home, safely. And I’m sporting a blue Northface jacket and a scarf from Target! And so glad I put my hair up today. Or otherwise, my hair might have done this:

Okay, I’m kidding. This is not true.

I was really craving some greek yogurt when I got home, so I quickly put the following all together and created a yummy, filling, and tasteful yogurt bowl:DSC09862

  • Non-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • Stevia
  • Cinnamon
  • Almond Butter Red heart
  • Unflavored quinoa
  • 1/4 of a chopped apple

It was delicious! But I was starving still afterward, don’t know why, so I gulped some water and ate a cookie…

Well, that’s it. Tomorrow is Friday, so make sure to be awesome!

Question of the Day

Do you like the snow?

Do you have any crazy, curly hair problems?

Favorite Workout Gear

Good afternoon! I was thinking about making a quick post on my fave workout gear. Most of it is running gear though.

Favorite Workout Gear

I love my Garmin Forerunner 10! I got it for Christmas and was so excited. This thing is a lifesaver for any runner out there. It is simple, easy to use, quick to understand, nice features, and it’s pretty accurate from what I can tell. Well worth the good price it comes at.

(Image Source & a review on the watch)

This shirt is a long sleeve thumbhole shirt from Old Navy. It’s actually one of my faves to run in because it isn’t too hot nor to thin to where it would be too cold.

This picture was before my 4 mile run a couple of days ago. And its definitely blurry because I have no idea how to to take pictures of myself. I pretty much fail most of the time Annoyed

These are my Lunar Glide 4s and they’re a great distance running shoe if you are a mild over pronator. They are pretty light actually, much lighter than the LG3s, so I don’t feel weighed down or anything.

This is an Old Navy running jacket and it has been my best friend this Winter! I love it. And those are also some black Old Navy running capris leggings. As long as you get the right size, they stay on you pretty well. And those socks, from TjMaxx, are my favorite! I think they are Adidas. But I have about 10 pair.

This is my favorite hat I have ever owned! I got it from my 1st Half Marathon and this thing has been with me on almost every run since then. A good hat is a must!

If I’m doing speed work on a track, I would use these.  I wore these during Cross Country Season and loved them!

A good barbell, weights/dumbbells, and a mat are my other needs when it comes to working out. Gotta do more than just run!

And that’s about it! And maybe some earmuffs if its super cold, but that’s kind of rare over here in Alabama.

Actually…its snowing. The first time in like 2 years. Will upload some pictures of it tonight!

Question of the Day

What are your favorite workout gear items?

Due to school and all, I’ve realized I probably will only blog once a day. But that’s okay!

Today is What I Ate Wednesday! I saw this on Chelsey’s blog and Courtney’s blog. I think it’s a really cool idea for Wednesday. So here I go:

I made a more simple green smoothie. I only put lots and lots of spinach, 1 banana, Spirulina powder, flax seed, dry organic oats, all natural and plain whey protein powder, and water to get everything going. I actually added a little stevia to it to sweeten up as well. And I understand that green smoothies are not the prettiest thing in the world…but they sure do taste good if you make them right.

For the past two days, I have been craving a simple, cheese and turkey quesadilla. So that’s what I’ve been making and wrapping it in foil. Also, eating my veggies and hummus along with it. Delicious! And sorry about the bad photo. This one was taken on my phoneSad smile

When I got home, I had to make a quick snack because I had an appointment on the phone which I was super excited for!

So, I had leftover cooked quinoa from dinner the other night. I put quinoa, almond milk, cinnamon, stevia, and some frozen berries all together. It sort of tasted like a cereal. But healthy, of course! Definitely a must try! I actually have a recipe for crunchy quinoa cereal. I need to make that soon and post the recipe!

(Didn’t take a pic due to being lazy with the camera and in a hurry at the same time)

Around 4:00 P.M., my mom and I headed out to run! I was kind of liking the cold weather (43 degrees? Yes, please). So I got in three miles! But my GPS didn’t start till .15 later. So ya gotta add that on. I promise, I did 3 miles! And yesterday I did 4 miles!

By the way, I’ve been easing off my running a little due to some aching pain in my foot. It really started after my 14 mile long-run, so I may have strained it or something of that sort.

I also got in my barbell workout again but not as many mountain climbers! How I did it was: 15 barbell squats, 6 barbell lunges each leg, then 20 deadlifts. Then after each set I did 30 mountain climbers. But I added an extra 10 on my last set! 100 mountain climbers, whoop, whoop!

And I got in 2 rounds of Karena’s leg workout. It is part of the #LoveYourBody series! Which is really awesome. Check it out: http://toneitup.com/blog.php?L-VE-Your-Body-Series-5657

Okay, this salad was the best! It was full of vegetables!

In the Salad:

  • Tomatoes
  • Sliced baby carrots
  • Bell pepper
  • Broccoli
  • Chopped apple
  • Celery
  • Sliced boiled eggs
  • Chopped lettuce

Dressing: 2-3 TBSP of balsamic vinegar and 1/2 TBSP of spicy brown mustard. Whisk and pour over salad. Delish! And much healthier : )

*A couple of random things I ate: Some Crunchmaster gluten free crackers, a couple of pecans with my coffee, I tried a few chips (didn’t like them BTW), half an apple, a little bit of almond butter.

And I actually just had a few sweet potato fries. OMG yum. <–Was that even a sentence? No, but it still deserves a period.

I’m going to go study and drink some chamomile tea now before bed.

Two more days and it will be Friday! Woo!

Question of the Day:

What’s something you’ve been craving lately?

Do you think sweet potato fries are better than regular fries?
