Happy Sunday!
I’m going to share a picture of my breakfast yesterday morning.
Those pancakes were from the Purely Twins (Click here for recipe) and they were so good! I added in poppy seeds and more lemon zest just because I wanted to. And I topped it off with a little almond butter and molasses.
Okay, let’s get on to the cool stuff. Like my 13 mile run this morning. WHOOP WHOOP!
We got to the group run late, so my dad and I had to run by ourselves and tried to catch up with people…like stragglers, hehe . I liked having to catch up to people…so running late wasn’t that bad.
By the end of this run, I discovered a lot about my fitness level. I can keep up a relatively fast (for me) pace without feeling completely dead by the last few miles. We averaged a good pace each lap (= 1 mile).
Here’s the laps:
- Mile 1: 9:18 Mile 7: 9:27 Mile 13: 8:43
- Mile 2: 8:49 Mile 8: 9:30
- Mile 3: 8:53 Mile 9: 9:09
- Mile 4: 9:08 Mile 10: 9:27
- Mile 5: 9:31 Mile 11: 9:23
- Mile 6: 9:15 Mile 12: 9:13
We got to the end and there was maybe 1 cup of coffee left so my dad and I split it. Some body got more than 1 cup because I know for a fact there was a lot of coffee at the beginning. Meanies. And there were donuts…I passed. To me, it seems kind of stupid to eat donuts after a tough run. I ate a banana in the car instead. I like bananas. (You can see my banana in the picture above)
This was my pre long run breakfast
I usually always eat this before a long run because it sits right with me and gives me enough energy.
Here’s the funny story of the run…So, at mile 3, they had GU’s but I didn’t grab one because I assumed they would have more at mile 7’s waterstop…this was not true. I got there and all they had was LIME GATORADE! How am I supposed to go 6 more miles with only Gatorade??? Little did I know…my dad had a GU in his pocket. WHAT?
Yeah…so for 2 miles the only thing I could think of was “How in the world am I go to make it!!??” So finally at mile 9, my dad was like, “Oh, I have GU in my pocket”…What? “Why did you not tell me this 2 miles ago, Dad”?
So it took me about a mile to get down the GU. But I survived! And ran under 2 hours for a practice run. Sweet.
Okay maybe it wasn’t so funny.
Okay, that’s all.
Later!
(Maybe I will make a Super Bowl meal later to blog about…you never know )
Question of the Day
Have you ever ran a half marathon before? If so, tell me about it!
- I’ve ran 1 half marathon before…but Ive ran around the 13 mileage quite a few times.
