Things That Make Me Happy

Today is a Monday and that means…we should hide!

Okay, maybe not. I just thought that picture was cute. But we can be a little more cheerful! So I’m going to tell you a few things that make me happy! Open-mouthed smile

1) Coffee: I love my coffee. It gets me started for the day, gives me energy, keeps me awake while I’m driving to school…AND there’s so many flavors!


2) Running: I mean, obviously I love running. But it truly does make me happy. One good run can make my whole week amazing.

3) A New Purse: This one is pretty random. But I usually don’t go buy me 5 million purses during the year…not even 3. Believe me, if I could just buy new purses all the time, I would…but I kinda like clothes a lot too Winking smile I would pick clothes any day. But when I do get a new purse, it makes me so, so excited. Weird? Yeah…I’m a girl.

4) Vizslas: I don’t have one! But boy, do I want one! Julie has one and Lori has one and I just love looking at their pictures of Sadie and Jax! Red heartOne day…I will have my own and we will run the world! Haha…get it? Vizslas loves to run, I love to run…run the world…never mind.

5) Almond Butter: Some people eat ice-cream and brownies when they’re sad…I eat almond butter. Definitely not butt loads of it because I like to save mine as much as possible. So, we got portion control over here!


6) Pinterest: When I have nothing to do, Pinterest is always there for me. And I also waste about 3 hours of my life…but that’s okay! FOLLOW ME!

7) Whole Foods and Costco: I wish I had a WF closer to me because I love that place! I could spend hours…and lots of money in there. Just saying. But, I do go to Costco aaaa lot! Costco has everything I love…in bulks. So duh, it’s awesome! Plus, they have samples. Everyone, go ahead and admit, you go for the samples. We all go for the samples.

8) Beaches: I’m a mountains kind of girl, so beach trips are rare…but I love them so much! Sunsets and sand…equals perfect! Here is an Instagram photo I took back in June when I went to Destin…it’s so beautiful!


9) Boston: I love this place. One thing on my bucket list is to run the loop around the Charles River. And I’m hoping to take a very long, long, long trip there one day…(AKA move there) source)

10) Hiking: I love going hiking. I’m not a hardcore hiker (no, no, no) but I love taking day trips to hike. I love to be able to escape from the world and just enjoy nature…And I also really enjoy trail running…I wish I could do that more!

National Banana Bread Day

You bet I made some banana bread yesterday…with pecans, of course. This recipe was clean and simple and definitely awesome paired with a cup of coffee.



  • 1 cup of oats
  • 2 eggs or 1/4 cup liquid egg whites
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup pecans (You may chop them if you want)
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. stevia
  • A little organic honey


  • Mash banana and stir all the other ingredients in with the banana.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Put cupcake holders in muffin tin
  • Scoop batter into cupcake holders and put it in the oven for 20 minutes

Seriously, put some Italian sausage to cook with your chicken and the flavor will be so good! That’s some mushrooms, broccoli, asparagus, and chicken and Italian sausage! Yum.

Mercedes-Benz Half Marathon & New PR

Saturday morning (FEB 16) I ran 3 miles and had these gluten free waffles and then I started prepping for race day!

I took a break and went healthy shopping at EarthFare with my friends


We had a lot of fun and then we went and ate at Panera Bread…tomato soup in a bread bowl for the first time ever…and it was great. But I didn’t eat all the bread. I could have, but I had a race in the morning.

RACE DAY (Feb 17)

4:00 A.M.—> Woke up, cooked oatmeal. Ate oatmeal. Ate half of a banana. Drank two cups of coffee.

5:50 A.M.—> Left the house, had everything all ready before hand.

6:30 A.M.—> Couldn’t find a parking spot (freaking out). Speed walked to the bag checking area. It was cold. After we checked in our bags, we jogged to the bus station and back for a warm-up.

6:50 A.M.—> Standing between the 8 and 9 minute pace runners. Found a friend to run with.

7:03 A.M.—> And we’re off.

I had no idea I was going to make that time. I was freaking out because I didn’t really know I had it in me.


How did I feel during the race? Perfect. I had a few side stiches, but I felt so awesome. Those feelings make memorable races and make you feel like a shining star! Have you had races like that, where you just feel amazing the whole time and even afterwards?

How did I feel after the race? Sleepy. I wanted to fall asleep. If someone would have given me a pillow, I would have. And my stomach didn’t feel too great after, so it was hard for me to eat. It took me about 3 hours to eat all the food.

Food: (In order) Banana, water, lays chips (my they were salty, just what I needed), 2 cups of coffee (yes, you read that right), half of a turkey barbecue sandwich (it took me a while to eat this), more coffee, more water, an apple, a marathon snickers bar (finally got that down about 4 hours later), more water, cole slaw, fruit cup.

All that food was eaten over about 3-4 hours. Some people were drinking beer, stuffing their faces all at once, etc…and I was like, “One chip at a time…one chip at a time…”.

This reason this post is going up so late is because I’ve been extremely busy and never had time to really sit down and think about my post. I didn’t want to make this a long post…So that’s it!

I promise, I have more interesting stuff coming up.

Workouts this week? Two runs covering 3.5 miles. Not so much. But I have done lots of plank workouts, arm workouts, two “easy” crossfit workouts, circuit workouts, toning…

This morning I did the 100 burpee burnout workout by Cassey from Blogilates. OMG…you need to try this if you love/hate burpees. ❤ I also got in a leg workout with a barbell. Haven’t done that in a while.
