WIAW 9/11

Must first acknowledge those who lost their lives 12 years ago on this day.

I was 6 years old, wasn’t exactly sure what was going on…but I remember the TV had the news on for days.

Its always bothered me, the event, why and how people can do that. I will never understand and hope it won’t happen again.

*******

Yesterday was a great day of eats!

I started my morning off with a yummy Quinoa Crunch Bowl (you might have seen the picture on my instagram)

After a lot of job searching and what not, I finally wrote down my workout and I was so excited to try it out because I knew it was going to be an epic one!

I promised to share the workout here on my instagram, so here it is!

Cardio Functional Workout

And if you don’t know how to do any of the exercises…

  • Burpee with Knee to Elbow (or tummy tuck)

indexindex2index3

Perform a burpee, while in the plank position, bring left knee to left elbow and right knee to right elbow!

  • Side Plank Hug to Open Chest Fly with dumbbell

While in this position, swing arm under your body…like this –>

index4

Counts as 1 rep! Do 10!

  • Double Pop Squats! So simple, you pulse TWO squats and then jump like you would with a jump squat. Click here and fast forward to 1:50
  • Plank Hops

After those three rounds, I hit my BACK, BICEPS, AND SHOULDERS

Post workout/Lunch was a Chocolate Brownie Quest Bar

(Quest Bar review coming soon!)

If you are wondering why I look like I want to smile but trying not to…its because I have Quest Bar in my mouth. And it tasted fantastic! So I’m obviously, weirdly happy.

Dinner was a good one…if you saw my Instagram pic, you probably know how much I am in love with Beet and Feta Sandwiches now. Words can not even describe.

(Recipe on this later)

I was very satisfied after this sandwich. Definitely making these suckers again!

Thanks Jenn for always hosting WIAW!

And don’t forget to enter my giveaway for the Sweaty Bands Headband! Last day!

I really don’t eat beets, though I certainly would. My best friend is a vegetarian and she eats roasted beets in her sandwiches all the time- she loves them! I definitely need to give it a try.

I was 18 on 9/11…going to college, but living with my parents in upstate NY. I was upstairs getting ready for class when my friend came to pick me up. My mom and my friend both yelled for me to come downstairs immediately. Just as I walked in the living room and looked at the television, the second plane hit. It was devastating.

My wife, however, is a Brooklyn native and was in high school at the time. It was horrible and traumatic for her and her family (her parents were on a cruise for their anniversary and couldn’t get home right away because all flights were cancelled) and they knew several people that were killed. I’ve lived in NYC for the past 4 years and am always afraid of another attack.

Great workout!!! Also thank you for the interval workout you commented on my post yesterday. It’s awesome and I am going to try it out on my short run on Friday!

Love beets! Have you ever tried beet chips?? So yummy!

I was 12 when 9/11 happened. Sitting in science class on my first day of school. I will never ever forget.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried beets…is that weird? I probably should try them. Also, I’ve been thinking about buying a Polar watch now for some time. Do you like yours? I think it’d be nice to have an accurate calorie count and not rely on the machines at the gym.

I’ve actually never tried beets…is that weird? I probably should give them a try. I also wanted to ask how you like your Polar watch? I’ve been thinking about getting one…I think it would be nice to have an accurate calorie count instead of relying on the gym machines.
