Taking a Break

Hey loves!

I took a break over the weekend and yesterday to just step away from the blogging world. I was in it all last week and I knew my brain just needed a break. It still does, but I thought I would pop in and blog just a little.

Friday we headed over to Costco and Earthfare to do a little grocery shopping…and we also stopped at Jason’s Deli to devour their salad bar.

Look, their salad bar rocks…its got all kind of stuff.

And every time we go to Earthfare, we get a cold Zevia to drink on the way back home. It’s just a thing.

Saturday I decided to spend my weekend eating clean whole foods…and that is what I did.

I started with a spinach, kale and banana smoothie and then a really good workout!

Lunch I had yogurt and almond butter with apple slices.

Then I took my sister to Forever 21 to find her a dress for homecoming.

When I got back my older sister and her husband were at the house.

While everyone else was eating hot dogs, I ate broccoli, eggs, peas, and onions topped with sauerkraut

Sunday, I started with another green smoothie

Hey y’all!

We got ready for church (I BROUGHT OUT THE BOOTS!!!) Oh yeahhhIMG_20130922_094904

Church was just so, so, so powerful Sunday. So happy I was there!

Lunch/dinner was pretty great…mostly the same at Saturday’s except no egg, but chicken!

So not a super special weekend or anything except I’m quite proud of myself eating so clean over those two days. I’m actually still doing it because I began to feel so good from all the veggies, fruits, and good proteins, no packaged crap.

I’m still drinking green smoothies and eating lighter. Except I might have had my fair share of almonds.

Anyway, you all have a great Tuesday!

  • What did you do over the weekend?
  • What’s your go-to-throw-together-in-a-bowl meal?
  • Do you ever take a break from the blog world?

Costco Run

Did a Costco run this afternoon and while I was there, I looked for some new glasses frames and the Canon EOS 7D. I absolutely love that camera and am really looking into it. And I also really need some new glasses frames because I haven’t updated mine in such a long time, a few years, actually. 5 years to be exact.

Anyway, I stopped at Publix right before Costco, which was a good idea because I found this amazing new hummus…Or at least it is new to me! The flavor was unreal and it even tasted really delicious with carrots!

Then I decided to dig into the lettuce and make a little salad.

In the mix: Chopped salad greens, orange tomatoes (new to me?), boiled egg, chopped apple, and organic yogurt dressing (no preservatives, all natural). And I cooked a few sweet potato fries as well.

It was good…but I needed more, obviously! How about a small stuffed bellpepper? Yes, please!

This was so good! Costco pre makes stuffed bell peppers and they taste amazing. The lady was giving out a sample and we just had to get them!

Question of the day

Do you like hummus? Have a favorite flavor?

Let’s talk about smoothies. I love protein smoothies, fruit smoothies, and vegetables smoothies. But I’m a super fan of the green smoothies. Why? Because of all the benefits you can get in one serving! It makes a difference to my performance through the day, my skin and hair, and my overall health. The mixture of vegetables and fruit and protein all in one is pretty awesome for those who have a hard time eating those types of food in one sitting. The smoothie recipe that I try to follow by and drink 2-5 times a week is here. Now sometimes for me, the ingredients change up some according to what is in my fridge!DSC09762

This is my smoothie this morning:

Green Smoothie Ingredients

-2 huge handfuls of spinach
-1 stalk of washed kale
-1 gala apple
-1 banana
-5 small frozen strawberries
-2 stalks of chopped celery
-half a lemon squeezed
-2 cups of water

I split this into 2 drinks and have 1/2 of it one morning and the other 1/2 the next morning so it saves me time which is a plus! And I also had a boiled egg to go along with this for some additional protein.

This is my packed and ready lunch today.

In the mix is a couple of scoops of red rice and quinoa mixture I picked up at Costco. It’s very tasty and if you ever see this, you might want to pick it up (hint, hint).

I also have some leftover sautéed chicken and half of a sweet potato. Then I topped it with salsa. Yes, I put salsa on my sweet potato. Its actually very tasty and suggest you try it out if you’re eating a sweet potato any time soon. I got this delicious idea from Courtney from Sweet Tooth Sweet Life. So if you end up adoring the tastiness, thank her!

Well, I’m off to school early for a panoramic picture of the senior class! Fun stuff

Have a good Friday…wait, it’s Friday? Oh, yes! It’s been a long, long week.

Be back tonight!

Question of the day:

What’s the weirdest combination of food that you’ve ever eaten?

Have you ever had a big hair change?
