What I Ate Wednesday 4/9/14

Anyone used to writing 2014 yet? I still find myself writing 2013 on most of my stuff. I just can’t believe it is 2014! It’s crazy…

On the other hand, HAPPY WIAW! I haven’t done a WIAW in months, so I’m happy to be doing them again. Thanks to the wonderful Jenn for making it possible for all us bloggers to link up! Smile

Breakfast

I started out with an extremely tasty, thick, and energy filled green smoothie that was heavenly…secret ingredient was the xanthan gum!

Ingredients:

  • Almond milk
  • Spinach
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3 frozen strawberries
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1/2 tsp xanthan gum
  • 1 tsp Barley grass juice powder
  • 1 inch of organic ginger root
  • 1 scoop of Jarrow Formulas Chocolate Protein Powder

 

Lunch

Grilled Chicken salad with berries, apple, granola, nuts, and vinaigrette

Dinner

I topped off my food for the day with the rest of the Caribbean Coconut Talenti Gelato from Sunday!

Yesterday’s Workout

Definitely recommend this workout from the Purely Twins! I completed 3 rounds and it definitely got my heart rate up!

I was dreadfully sore from Sunday’s hard run in the rain and leg workout today! The foam roller is my best friend Smile

But I think this 5 miler helped loosed my legs some…so that’s good

A look into the past…

Well, I can’t believe it! 2013 is just about over.

Since Brittany did a 2013 recap of positive events in her life, I thought I would do the same!

I trained my butt off for this half marathon and went under my goal time. I was shooting for 1:55 but ran it in 1:51. I was so happy!

I started lifting weights in 2013. It was the best decision ever.

Cardio Functional Workout

Made some awesome workout printables.

Photo: 3 mile run. The @purelytwins new 24 min workout. A little core work. Lower body toning and a little bicep/shoulder action. Haven't been able to do anything since I got back from Texas on Monday so a full body workout this Christmas AM was just perfect. Have a Merry Christmas!

I also burned some major calories this year. Kicked butt, baby!

Taking a Break

Hey loves!

I took a break over the weekend and yesterday to just step away from the blogging world. I was in it all last week and I knew my brain just needed a break. It still does, but I thought I would pop in and blog just a little.

Friday we headed over to Costco and Earthfare to do a little grocery shopping…and we also stopped at Jason’s Deli to devour their salad bar.

Look, their salad bar rocks…its got all kind of stuff.

And every time we go to Earthfare, we get a cold Zevia to drink on the way back home. It’s just a thing.

Saturday I decided to spend my weekend eating clean whole foods…and that is what I did.

I started with a spinach, kale and banana smoothie and then a really good workout!

Lunch I had yogurt and almond butter with apple slices.

Then I took my sister to Forever 21 to find her a dress for homecoming.

When I got back my older sister and her husband were at the house.

While everyone else was eating hot dogs, I ate broccoli, eggs, peas, and onions topped with sauerkraut

 

Sunday, I started with another green smoothie

Church was just so, so, so powerful Sunday. So happy I was there!

Lunch/dinner was pretty great…mostly the same at Saturday’s except no egg, but chicken!

So not a super special weekend or anything except I’m quite proud of myself eating so clean over those two days. I’m actually still doing it because I began to feel so good from all the veggies, fruits, and good proteins, no packaged crap.

I’m still drinking green smoothies and eating lighter. Except I might have had my fair share of almonds.
