3 Simple Foods To Curb the Cravings

Do you ever get hungry at obscene hours during the afternoon and late at night? Yeah, me too. I’m a victim. Growing up, I didn’t really understand that. I thought I had a some sort of problem and no one ever taught me about how to eat properly to not have that happen.

I’m sharing my today, 3 simple foods to curb the cravings. These are foods you probably already have in your house, and if not, please go get them!

#1 Apples

I thought this was rather interesting and I’m sharing it. The article link is on SOURCE down below.

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

“Avoid extra visits to your doctor due to unbalanced blood sugar. Soluble fiber in apples, called pectin, reduces the amount of sugar and calories that’s absorbed into the bloodstream after a meal. That’s good news for folks who want to prevent type 2 diabetes, but it also makes apples one of the best snacks for dieters. Apple pectin prevents spikes in blood sugar that lead to increased fat storage. It will help you avoid the blood sugar “crash” that leaves you craving more food.

How long it will keep me satiated?
Apple pectin can keep you full for 1-2 hours.

When should I eat it?

Eat an apple before or after a meal to help keep you full faster and longer, or between meals to help keep blood sugar balanced. Consider adding apple pectin powder to yogurt, porridge/oatmeal or shakes.”

#2 Bell Pepper

The fiber in bell peppers will help you get that fullness you’re looking for when you need something to help you curb those cravings.

There’s a thing called, Leptin. Ever heard of it? Well, in case you haven’t, Leptin is a hormone that is secreted from fat cells. It helps you know when you need to eat and when to stop eating. It does A LOT. Specifically, it helps to give you that feeling of fullness. When you overeat you can overtime deplete your leptin levels and therefore, the problem turns to constantly overeating and you don’t have the leptin to tell you to stop!

Bell peppers are one of my favorite foods to help restore the leptin. Even Zuzana from ZuzkaLight talks about it in her video here! Check it out to understand it more!

#3 Coconut Oil

I love coconut oil! I put it on EVERYTHING (that I can)

One reason I love coconut oil, is that it kills those sugar cravings. Seriously, take a spoonful of coconut oil and just eat it. You’ll be fine. You might want to drink some water afterward…

  • Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids (triglycerides). These acids produce a lot of health benefits. Coconut oil is a source of instant energy…much like sugar. But coconut oil doesn’t produce that insulin spike in your bloodstream. Saves you from the slump!
  • It feels you up rather quickly…its kinda magical.
  • Helps you lose weight! (WHAT!?) Yes. It is because of the medium-chain fatty acids in the oil. These acids are transported directly to the liver, promoting “thermogenesis” which increases the body’s metabolism. Just look into more if you are a little unsure here. I’ve been studying this for quite a long time and I always make sure I get my coconut oil in everyday. YUM

So what do you think? Do you take any of these foods daily?

  • What’s your favorite vegetable?
  • What’s your favorite fruit?

Fashion, Faves, & Facts

Hey all! It’s Friday…I wish another spontaneous beach trip would happen again!

But, let’s be realistic here…not happening!

So, I’m planning on a long run today because Saturday is going to be rain FILLED! Which is not what I was hoping. Blah

Today’s post is extremely random. I found some interesting things I wanted to share and that’s all! Haha so nothing super special. I wish!

I was looking through old pictures on my computer and found my Claire’s Jewelry Style Blogging photos from Winter in 2012 and last year’s TG and XMAS albums. You don’t even know how excited I am for the weather to be cold enough to wear things like this…

Audrey.Post5Baby, It's Cold Outside3Audrey.Post12 Brown, gold, creme6

And just so you know, when I styled blogged for CJ, I had to do all my own pictures (taken mostly by my mom and sister) and model outfits…not something I usually did. It was definitely out of my comfort zone.

So I tried to mostly stand and smile:

I LOVE this sweater (still have it hehe) and I can’t wait to pull it out again as soon as it gets in the…50’s!!!!

If a running jacket has thumbholes, it immediately gets a 5 out 5 star rating!

The pink one here, is from Lululemon!

And can’t wait to pull out the scarves and vests/jackets! Two or my favorite clothing pieces in the Fall/Winter…I will pretty much stock up on them and wear them over and over again.

Hot chocolate and XMAS lights? Um, yes please!

But for now, I’m still wearing flip flops Sad smile

(Taken yesterday before I went to go my hair cut! Finally)

I’m loving me some clean chocolate 2 minute fudge from the Purely TwinsIMG_20130919_113025

You can check out the recipe for the fudge by clicking —>> Here!

The first bowl of chili of many more to come. We made a yummy White Chili with organic chicken broth last night. It was delish! I also made a clean/healthy Cornbread that I must make again and share the recipe because we all LOVED it. It was super moist, dense, soft, etc, etc…

^^^This box of Stevia and natural sweeteners to just experiment with, from NuNaturals! Already experimenting and can not wait to make more things! I really want to make some sort of sugar free chocolate peppermint fudge with the peppermint stevia extract!

And also, sometime in the future, look out for a giveaway! (YAY)

I don’t have bad oily skin or anything, but the way this Covergirl Oil Control Foundation (Classic Ivory) applies on my face, makes me love it so much! Its such a fave. I’ve been using is since sometime last year.

I recently found out that Alabama Bloggers had a FB page, and when they let me join I have been able to find some other running/healthy living/fitness/interesting blogs in AL that I had no idea about! So this is definitely something I’m liking.

If you haven’t, see if your there’s a Blogging Network for your state or city/county! Seriously, its so supporting!

Speaking of support…you know who your biggest supporter is? GOD! He wants us to succeed, to do great things, to push through negativity and to look to him for guidance. This book written by Judy Jacobs (who I’ve been listening to since I was like 8 years old), You are Anointed For This, is so good. I love getting my Bible out while reading the book and just soaking in His word.

And I can never, ever, ever, ever, get tired of Zevia! I have yet to try all the flavors, working on that!

I love the new Stonyfield #FightPesticides GO ORGANIC video! I have become so aware of how much stuff (yogurt, cookies, a taco at chipotle, a can of corn, an apple from the market) has horrible PESTICIDES or is GMO. The wonderful thing about Stonyfield, is that they are completely against that! So, if I’m going to eat yogurt, I’m eating Stonyfield Organic. I’m also on the lookout for: ORGANIC chicken, turkey, beef (grass fed beef thank you) and vegetables, cage free organic eggs, and trying not to eat too many boxed things unless it has minimal ingredients that I KNOW OF! Just spreading the word!

FACT: The European Union has banned over 1,300 chemicals since 1976 and the US has only banned 11

FACT: It’s estimated that 85% or more of our grocery store contains GMOs and in Europe it’s only 5%

Food Friday: Beverage Style

Happy Friday! So excited about today’s post!

I was simply thrilled when Cocozia shot me an email asking me if I would like to review their coconut water.

Natural Made Green TeaIMG_20130813_173617

Pure and simple, hydration is essential to life.
COCOZIA® Coconut Water is exactly that: a pure, natural hydration source containing not only water from the green coconut, but essential electrolytes too.
COCOZIA® contains a natural abundance of potassium and magnesium, as well as other electrolytes. Electrolytes are directly involved with body hydration and muscle function. Better to get yours from a natural source like COCOZIA® than from a sugary, synthetic sports drink alternative.
That’s how they drink coconut water in the islands, but fortunately, COCOZIA® has made it a little easier for you here! All the natural elements and flavor, without the need to carry a coconut to your work-out!

I’m a big fan of coconut water! I think its vital for people who workout hard and run!

I’m also a health nut, so the fact that it was 100% coconut water AND organic, made it even better.

I’ve been posting it here and there on my blog the last couple of weeks, reviewing it. I’ve been testing it out on my runs and both my parents love it as well.

We are coconut water fanatics.

I really hope I see this product in stores like Whole Foods, Publix, Earth Fare, The Fresh Market (all my favorite places, obviously)

Why Do I Drink Coconut Water?

Last year when I started running hard for Cross Country, running long runs, training for my half marathon, etc., my stomach would hurt a lot. I kept researching why, and found out why when Christina had the same problem! NOT ENOUGH ELECTROLYTES! I was drinking tons of water but no electrolytes and without electrolytes, you can not perform and feel as good after on your workouts/runs.

So, I’m a health nut, as I mentioned above, and am not about to drink Gatorade, yuck. So, already a fan of coconut water, I made it a staple in my house. We usually always have coconut water on hand during training season. 262677_398359616909699_724523256_n

I drink coconut water after my runs now and my stomach never hurts! Electrolytes are so important! Especially if you are doing long distance running!

So, with that said, you should definitely remember to drink more than water. I highly recommend Cocozia because it is an organic coconut water and you can be 100% sure you’re drinking the right stuff!

Disclosure: Cocozia asked me and sent me their product to review, but all opinions are my own.

And I wanted to share my salad from last night…it was so pretty!
